SYD NORTHUP
INKJET DIVISION MANAGER
Syd got his start in Santa Barbara working at Miramar Systems, earning his badge as the Technical Tradeshow Presenter for all of Miramar’s major tradeshows. Eventually, marriage led Syd and his wife Michelle to Charleston, South Carolina. With a strong software background, Syd landed a job in the “sublimation world” with Sawgrass Technologies in 2000. After wearing several hats with the sales department, a strong relationship was built with the technical and engineering ink manufacturing process with sublimation inkjet technology.
By 2004 Syd became a Distributor/VAR selling inkjet solutions to the Large Format Sublimation sector. He continues to work in the Large Format sector. In 2009, Syd joins forces with Gans Ink and Supply Company to begin and run Gans Inkjet Division. With an extensive background in color management, a digital to offset solution is developed and several inkjet turn-key technologies are developed with sublimation, UV, Solvent and Latex. To promote the Division, Syd writes several technical articles in industry periodicals works with SGIA on tradeshow presentations, seminars and is an active member of the Decorators Garment Committee. At Gans, Syd runs a technical team of field engineers, manages large format inkjet accounts, builds vendor relations and is challenged every day to make his division as successful as possible.
